In the year 2010 a lab in Russia offers help to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to re-populate the various species of wolves remaining in North America. Unfortunately through a series of intentional misconceptions the Russians succeed in tricking the Americans into thinking that they’d set up an positive breeding environment in a secluded reserve in Russia so that the wolves could repopulate. The U.S, with no knowledge of deception, shipped off, hundreds of wolves to Russia in the hopes that they would later return to American soil.

But of course, that’s not what was really happening. The Russian Government was using the wolves to test a virus called Madolba-2, for military purposes. Preliminary testing proved fatal to some of the wolves, but others thrived on the foreign aid, getting healthier and stronger, & more intelligent by the hour. However all of this went unnoticed by the Russians scientists until it was too late. After only a few months of experimentation the wolves became intelligent enough to break out, and the canines ran south, to where our RPG takes place, China.

It is now the year 2012 and searches to locate the wolves have turned up empty handed. The virus slowly but surely has been spreading ever since the establishment of three permanent packs. Infection passing on through saliva and dander it's migration and mutation abilities are unknown.
